Directions to Our Practice

If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take starting at the Puyallup Public Library: 

1. Head south on Meridian for about 2 miles, then turn left to stay on Meridian for another 3.5 miles. At the intersection with 160th St, turn left and then immediately right into our parking lot.
2. If Meridian has bad traffic, head south on 9th St instead. Turn left onto 152nd St, then right onto Meridian much farther down. Continue the same as above, and you’ll find us at 16021 Meridian E.

How Much Local History Do You Know?

The Puyallup Valley has a rich and complex history, deeply rooted in the heritage of the Puyallup people, known as the spuyaləpabš. Their name reflects their values, meaning “generous and welcoming behavior to all people, friends and strangers, who enter our lands.” In the 1830s and 1840s, approximately 2,000 Native Americans called the valley home. European settlers began arriving in the 1850s, with the first wagon train crossing the Cascade Range via Naches Pass in 1853.

In 1877, Ezra Meeker, a pioneer who had journeyed from Indiana 11 years earlier, platted the townsite and named it Puyallup in honor of the region’s Indigenous people. The town grew rapidly during the 1880s, spurred by the success of Meeker’s hop farm, which brought significant economic prosperity. Puyallup was officially incorporated in 1890, with Meeker serving as its first mayor. The early 20th century brought modernization with the expansion of nearby Tacoma and the establishment of interurban rail lines, as well as the creation of the Western Washington Fairgrounds, which became a hub for showcasing agricultural achievements.
